I came across this link for practice activities for Descubre 1.HTH. She uses Descubre 1/Descubre 2 for 1st/2nd semester of Spanish 2 and then Descubre 2 for Spanish 3. I didn't find any scope descriptions, but came across how this teacher set up the pacing. You also mentioned that the textbook is paced too quickly. ![]() I don't teach subjunctive in my curriculum until Level 4. I also use Señor Jordan videos on Youtube and definitely use music and songs for teaching subjunctive. I developed my own curriculum but use Teachers Pay Teachers when we need more practice or when teaching children because they definitely need more drilling. I attached the Table of Contents for Levels 1 and 2. That way students can start speaking in past tense and just work in the preterite as they learn it! ![]() It is so much easier and there are only 3 irregular verbs (and it is used more often). I've also found that it is more effective to teach imperfect before preterite. I developed my own curriculum aimed at getting adults speaking Spanish quickly, so we don't spend alot of time on things that HS Spanish loves to quiz on like accent marks and Saber vs Conocer. I've been teaching both for about 25 years. I've taught Spanish in middle and high school and now run my own business teaching English and Spanish. I started as an ESL teacher for Adult Ed Programs. Obviously, don't dump the textbook since it is a tool that you have, but you probably need to supplement with Teachers Pay Teachers.Ī little background on me.
